Chief Executive Officer
Encik Mohamad Ayob Abu Hassan graduated with a Bachelors Degree in Economics (Hons) from University Malaya and MBA (Finance) from University of Hull and a holder of Capital Markets Services Representative's License. Prior to joining AFMB, he was attached to Affin Merchant Bank Bhd. He began his banking career with Maybank Bhd as an Officer upon his graduation in April 1978. In October of the same year he was selected to join Maybank's International Department as a Foreign Exchange and Money Market Dealer. In May 1981, he was transferred to the Bank's London Branch as a Senior Dealer and was subsequently made the London Branch Manager in January 1984. He returned to Malaysia in December 1985 and served Maybank until July 1987. Between August 1987 and July 1990, he ventured into several other business activities such as financial consulting, treasury management, insurance services, general contracting and had also assisted in the establishment of a rubber glove manufacturing plant. He joined Affin Merchant Bank in July 1990 as Manager in the Treasury Division. During his tenure at the bank, he was given the task to establish the bank's Risk Management Unit (1997); assisted the Bank's Internal Audit Department to review various accounts that has turned non performing (2000) and later was appointed General Manager of Corporate Recovery Division, which was responsible for managing the bank's non-performing loan portfolio. In January 2001, he was reassigned to the Treasury and Capital Markets Division for origination of the issuance of Private Debt Securities. His last position held at the Bank was as First Vice President, Treasury and Investment Division until August 2002.
Head of Finance & Operations
Puan Zurina Ismail is the Head of Finance & Operations. Prior to joining AFMB in 2003 she was attached to Affin Trust Management Berhad, then a subsidiary of AFMB from 1994-1995 where she was formerly the Accounts Executive. Subsequently in 1996, she was promoted to the Head of Operations. She gathered vast experience in unit trust industry where she was exposed to preparation of the financial statements, supervision and coordination of the overall operations unit. She was also the project coordinator for the Y2K in implementing the upgraded system. She has more than 10 years of experience prior to joining the Company. She was attached with AFFIN Bank Bhd for 3 years (1991-1993) in the Finance Department, in charge of recommending, coordinating, implementing the General Ledger computerization project for its Head Office and branches. Prior to 1991, she had a brief working stint as an Assistant Accountant with Berjaya Group, as a Programmer with IBM and Accounts Officer with Majlis Amanah Rakyat. Puan Zurina received her Diploma in Business Studies from University Teknology MARA in 1983 and Bachelor in Business Studies majoring in Financial Management from Eastern Michigan University, USA in 1987.
Head of Investment
Encik Anuwar Idris was attached to UiTM as a lecturer in finance for 4 years before joining the private sector in 1993 as a Company Dealers' Representative in several stock broking companies until 1998 and later as a remisier until 2001. Prior to joining Affin Fund Management, he was attached to an asset management company as an Assistant Manager in the Portfolio Management Department. He is the holder of a Fund Manager's Representative's License. He holds a Bachelor's degree in Business Administration University of Miami, USA (Finance) (Cum Laude) and also Masters of Business Administration, University of Miami, USA.
Senior Portfolio Manager
Encik Amenudden Bin Abd Hadi joined the Investment Division of Affin Merchant Bank Bhd in September 1996 and was transferred to AFM on 1 April 1997. He has over 7 years experience in managing Islamic equity portfolio. He obtained his Diploma in Investment Analysis from UiTM in 1993 and subsequently served as central buyer at Inter-Pacific Securities Sdn Bhd for one year. He later pursued his studies at Saint Louis University, Missouri, USA and graduated with Magna Cum Laude in Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration (Finance) in May 1996. He is the holder of Fund Manager's Representative's License.
Vice President - Operations
Encik Mohd Zarak Zurkanain Bin Rosli is the Vice President - Operations since 1 August 2007. He was previously the Head of Compliance, a position he held from from April 2003. He holds a Bachelor of Business Administration degree (Cum Laude) with a double major in Managerial Finance and Banking from University of Mississippi, USA. He joined AFM in 1998 where he was a licensed fund manager's representative managing of retirement / fixed income clients and overall liquidity. He was previously a Consultant with a local consulting firm specializing in privatization advisory services and later served Mekar Idaman / Intria Berhad of the UEM group in its Corporate Advisory department and the Managing Director's Office.
Acting Head Sales & Marketing
Mr. Toh Chun Zau has more than 10 years of technology and product development experience in global securities services and fund management. He possesses significant project management skills, having worked with Deutsche Bank AG in Singapore as part of its regional product development team and as one of the pioneer staff of Commerce Asset Fund Managers in Malaysia. His experience covers running and managing multiple projects from end-to-end, regionally as well as globally. He holds a B.A. (Hons.) Degree in Accounting and Finance from Middlesex University.
